The first black owned Contemporary-Ballet Dance Company in Boston Massachusetts, Jo-Mé Dance Theatre (1st Company) was established in 2013 to create an exploratory process where the company could combine diverse elements - including acting, to cultivate new and innovative movements and ideas. The company is able to explore the distortion of the body, natural patterns, the chemical reactions between humans, visually pleasing expressions, and emotional conflicts. The company's honest, authentic movement compiles real-life stories that are shared with the audience, allowing them to experience epiphanies throughout the creative journey. Believing that dance is one of the most powerful ways to inspire and connect with an audience, the company aims to further the understanding of the human condition through each intentional movement.
